Accenture X Acquires A SCM SAP Specialist
Salt Mostly Brings SCM SAP Capabilities to Accenture X
Accenture made another acquisition for its Industry X unit. Salt Solutions is based in Würzburg, 80 miles away from Frankfurt, in Germany. It, also, has offices in Stuttgart, Dresden, and Munich. Salt is SAP-centric with a specialization in SCM and also capabilities around production systems, all around SAP. Furthermore, it has developed several add-ons to SAP. Salt provides the usual lifecycle services, from consulting, systems integration, and application management.
This Is Industry X’s Most Significant Acquisition
A few comments:
- This is the most significant acquisition for Industry X. Salt had in 2019 revenues of EUR 65m, and has a headcount of 500
- Lately, Accenture has accelerated its M&As around SCM and production systems, clearly signaling investment in digital manufacturing
- Accenture has quietly rebranded Industry X.0 as Industry X. Not a major change, we agree
- Finally and more importantly, Accenture X has acquired capabilities such as SAP and product design services it already has in other units, e.g., its SAP practice and Accenture Interactive’s Fjord. Industry X’s recent acquisitions probably, bring specialized skills that the SAP practice did not have. However, it seems that Industry X, is recreating its own capabilities independently of other Accenture units. We are guessing this is the price to pay for a firm this size.
We keep on updating the list of Industry X’s acquisitions here.
